Providers with Assemblymember John LairdFamily child care providers united in
SEIU Local 2004 and AFSCME came together for the first-ever joint family child care joint lobby day.

Providers spoke directly with elected officials and let them know how important our work is to California’s children, working families and our communities. Together we urged lawmakers to support AB 1164, the bill that would allow us to come together with a united voice and work with the state to improve child care.

Providers in other states who’ve formed unions have improved training opportunities and incentives, reduced costs for parents, and won affordable health insurance so providers can stay in the profession and deliver the reliable services our communities depend on. With a united voice, we can do the same for kids, parents, and providers in California.
